I mixed the chopped green cherries, sugar, sliced almonds, and Saigon cinnamon in a small bowl.
I washed the apples. Here's the tricky bit: I removed the cores to 1/2 inch of the bottom of the apples.
I don't have an apple corer, so I used a paring knife to cut out first the stem area, and then the core. Then I spooned out the seeds. I recommend making the holes about 3/4-inch to an inch wide.
I stuffed the apples with the dry mixture and added a thin slice of butter atop. Then I poured 3/4 cup of boiling water into the baking pan before putting the apples in the oven for 30 minutes.
Et voilà! The finished product! I drizzled the apples with the pan sauce before serving.
I served the apples hot with a side of vanilla ice cream. This dessert is really easy to make and was a hit with my family!
